Definition of scale in business

Scale of operation in business - Scales may be broadly classified as (1) category scale: sequence of numbers or words which only serve to identify certain entities or observations and have no quantitative significance; for example, a numbered or named list, or numbers on the uniforms of the members of a team. But here's the rub -- if you don't focus on the key activities which move your business forward in a strategic way -- you're doomed to stagnate. In addition, keeping costs low or unchanged while increasing sales volume provides companies with the opportunity to further decrease prices – new customers, more marketshare – without sacrificing margin (economies of scale). Many entrepreneurs believe they just need ‘more awareness' to ace business success, when in fact, they have nothing of value to bring to the market in the first place.
